Four talking points and one ongoing saga for #SuperRugby Round 9

Embattled Brumbies CEO Michael Jones emerges from the ACT Supreme Court on Thursday, where his injunction to keep his job was upheld. But these are the days of our lives… Image via ABC News Canberra

The Roar: It’s been viewed already as one of the harder rounds to tip in the season to date, and that’s a fair call with so many games featuring so many subplots across the weekend. Already healthy leads in three of the four conferences can be extended, while New Zealand will undoubtedly deliver yet more quality.

And then, there’s maybe the hardest game to pick all season: the Sunwolves v Jaguares in Tokyo. Sheesh, I’ve still got a headache thinking about it. Here’s the talking points for Round 9:

  1. ANZAC Weekend? What ANZAC weekend…
  2. Which teams are kicking themselves off the tee?
  3. The Bulls: it could be time to consider the possibility that there’s a chance that potentially I might be wr-wr-wr-wro-wron…
  4. I don’t think the Waratahs are done yet. But they’re close. And..
  5. The Bold and the Brumbies: Episode 37

rugby.com.au: Playing behind one of, if not the most dominant forward pack in the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship in 2015, University of Canberra Vikings flyhalf Christian Lealiifano thinks he’s got it easy at the moment.

After a win earlier this season, Lealiifano jokingly told me he just lets his very impressive forwards do their job and rumble forward, and then gets the yellow Gilbert in the attacking zone and plays wide.

“I remember that,” Lealiifano laughed, when I brought it up again this week, as part of a really open and honest chat in the build-up to the National Rugby Championship decider at Ballymore on Saturday.

The Vikings will take on the undefeated Brisbane City side from 3:00pm local time…
